Visit Bodrum in Turkey

Bodrum is a beautiful spot in Turkey on the southwest coast of Turkey. It’s popular among tourists and for good reasons. It has a nightlife that’s great for going out, many historical sites, it has great hotels and beautiful beaches. Many different tourists like to come here every year, especially to the waterfront which has a lot of stunning yachts. Even in ancient times these amazing boats were already present in the boat yards of Bodrum. Nowadays the yachts that were built back then are still created by craftsmen in Bodrum.

Bodrum is even called ‘the Land of the Eternal Blue’ by Homeras, because of the sea. There is a medieval castle in Bodrum that was once built by the Knights of the Rhodes to protect the entrance to Bodrum’s blue bay, hence the name ‘the Land of the Eternal Blue’. This is the place where the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea meet. Some of the most popular resorts and towns for holidays are Ortakent, Turkbuku, Gumusluk, Gumbet, Torba and Yalikavak for example. These feature enchanting villages where you can find great hotels and guest houses to stay in during your holiday. You can also find great beaches in for example Aktur, Bagla, Gumbet and Gumusluk for example on the southern coast of Bodrum.

However, it’s nothing new that there are so many tourists that go to Bodrum. Back in ancient Greece it was the most popular trading city of Halicarnassus. There is still the same number of tourists that go to Bodrum now, but they go, among other reasons, for the great parties and nightclubs and all the bars they have there. Another reason to go to Bodrum is the Gumbet beach that’s nearby. It only takes 15 minutes to get there by bus and there’s more than enough to do for the entire family. You can for example try a watersport here, since there are enough sports facilities at Gumbet beach.

When you’re in Bodrum, one of the places you must go to is the Castle of Bodrum.  This castle was built to protect the port of Bodrum from pirates. The port of Bodrum is another highlight you can visit, especially because it is extremely important for Bodrum. It used to be a small village for fishermen, but thanks to this port, Bodrum has grown to be the popular tourist destination we know today. Near this port you can find many hotels, shops, and restaurants as well as a great beach. When you’re at the boulevard of Bodrum it’s also a great idea to go to the centre of the city for Bodrum’s great nightlife. One of the most special clubs here is the Catamaran Club Bodrum which is so special, because it floats. The dance floor is made of glass so when you’re dancing it looks like you’re dancing on water. Lastly, Bodrum has more than enough to offer for people who like shopping as well. Bodrum features luxurious stores, like in the OASIS Shopping Culture & Entertainment Centre, as well as stores with knockoff clothing so there are stores for everyone!
